HiveCare | Privacy Policy

HiveCare is built around one principle: your data belongs to you. Everything you log stays on your device. Your photos and videos go to your own accounts, not ours. This page explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and how everything works.

What's stored on your device

Your inspection records, treatments, feedings, harvests, hive details, and settings are stored on your phone in the app's internal database. Copies of your photos and videos are also stored on your phone in the app's private storage. These files are automatically deleted on uninstall.

HiveCare also saves a full JSON copy of all your records and copies of your photos and videos to your backup folder, a location of your choosing on your device, separate from the app's private storage.

These backup files are not affected by uninstalling the app. They survive reinstalls, which is how HiveCare can restore your full history after you reinstall and pick the same folder again. The only ways to permanently remove them are to clear the app's data manually via Settings → Apps → HiveCare → Storage → Clear Data, or to delete the files directly using your device's file manager.

What we store on our servers

If you create a HiveCare WebPass (a Pro feature), we store:

Your email address
A hashed version of your password (we never store or see it in plain text)

If you enable WebPass cloud backup, we also store:

Your inspection records as a JSON text file, so you can view them at hivecare.buzz

Photos, videos, voice notes, and location data are never sent to our servers.

What we never collect

Your photos and videos. They go to your own Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (iPhone). We have no access to them.
Your location. Used only to fetch weather, stored locally on your device and never sent to our servers.
Analytics or tracking data. HiveCare contains no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers.

Third-party services

Open-Meteo (weather). Your approximate latitude and longitude are sent to Open-Meteo's free weather API to fetch conditions for your inspection date. No personal information is included. See open-meteo.com.

Google Drive (optional, Android Pro). Managed entirely by your own Google account. HiveCare uses the App Data folder, which is only accessible to HiveCare. Google's privacy policy applies to all data stored in your account.

iCloud (optional, iOS Pro). Managed entirely by your Apple account. Apple's privacy policy applies.

Your rights and control

Your backup files (JSON and photos/videos in your chosen folder) are not removed when you uninstall the app. To permanently delete them, either clear app data via Settings → Apps → HiveCare → Storage → Clear Data, or delete the files directly using your device's file manager.
To delete your WebPass account and all associated data on our servers, visit the Delete Account page. You can delete your account instantly by signing in, or submit a manual request if you no longer have access.
Your Google Drive or iCloud backup can be deleted directly from those services at any time.

Children's privacy

HiveCare is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page. The date at the top always reflects the most recent version.
